Steamboat Springs First Friday Artwalk 2024

Who doesn’t love a stroll in Downtown Steamboat Springs? Mix that with local art, food, and craft cocktails, and you’ve got yourself a great event. This summer, enjoy on the first Friday of every month, a free self-guided tour of local art galleries, museums and alternative venues in downtown Steamboat Springs. Discover the local artists of the Yampa valley and beyond at the galleries and participating venues in the downtown creative district of Steamboat Springs. Look out for live music, wine and special demonstrations at different galleries and venues. The First Friday Artwalk occurs on the first Friday of every month during the summer.

These businesses remain open the first Friday of every month for this favorite event of locals and visitors alike. Many offer changing exhibits, so there is something new to see each month. Free to the public, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Refreshments are served.


Schoonover Gallery Fine Art

Schoonover Gallery Fine Art located downtown at 929 Lincoln Avenue is Steamboat’s newest gallery described as “Mountain Contemporary” with a little “Modern West” representing artists from around the world. The gallery will host artist receptions, demonstrations, and special events.


Jace Romick Gallery

The R-Diamond Collection focuses on the exhibition and sale of western contemporary art. The R-Diamond Gallery, which is located inside the Jace Romick Gallery, hosts quarterly exhibitions, special events and a provides year-round presence to the Steamboat Springs fine art community. The R-Diamond Gallery works closely with artists to ensure that their work and their story is represented and portrayed in a way that best aligns with their personality and their style. 


Pine Moon Fine Art Gallery

Pine Moon Fine Art is located in beautiful downtown Steamboat Springs and features a broad range of work by fourteen local artists including contemporary and unique fine artwork is featured in acrylic, bronze, graphite, glass, jewelry, oil, paper, photography, printmaking, textile and watercolor.


Riverwalk Collective

Welcome to the Riverwalk Collective Gallery. This ‘collective’ is comprised of nine to twelve diverse artists, ranging in disciplines from photography to oil painting, woodworking, sculpture, oil on silk, watercolor and more. All artists are local to Routt County and reflect the diversity of our environment, our community and our culture. Riverwalk Collective is a program of Steamboat Creates.


Steamboat Creates – Member Shows

Housed in the historic train depot, Steamboat Creates supports both emerging and established artists. Steamboat Creates member shows allow opportunities to be inspired by themes including Western Heritage, Social Impact Issues, Small Works and Autumn Art.


Nozcaboose Artist in Residence

The Caboose Artist Studio Residency program, which launched in summer 2020, provides local artists a place to create without the burden of high rent for a dedicated work space. The residency takes place in Steamboat Creates’ NozCaboose, named after the graffiti mural characters called Nozcos that wrap around the outside of the caboose train car. See artists at work in the Caboose from April – October.

Solarflare Glassworks & Design

Solar Flare Glasswork & Design was born from the idea of giving back.  As inspired Artists and Makers, this group wants to contribute to the World aesthetically, simultaneously limiting their overall impact on the earth.  Over 90% of the equipment and tools in the studio have been created from recycled goods, designed and built in-house. They thoughtfully resourced the metal, kiln bricks, hand tools, marble, glass and so much more!


Standard Western Art + Drink

Standard Western Art + Drink is located on 9th and Lincoln in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs and housed in one of Steamboat’s historic buildings. The West themed gallery and bar features an incredible wine list offering bottled wine, wines by the glass with tasting flights, artisan beers, and charcuterie platters purveyed by local entrepreneur, Laura the Butcher. The Wine Bar is open late on the weekends, where you can also enjoy curated desert boxes and late night espresso. The gallery hosts micro-exhibitions, special events, artist talks and monthly storytelling night.


Steamboat Art Museum
807 Lincoln Ave.
Housed in the iconic First National Bank/Rehder Building (1905/1920) and on the National Registry of Historic Places, Steamboat Art Museum is located in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs. Established in 2006, the museum presents rotating exhibitions of artwork by living masters whose work is relevant to the culture and heritage of the West. The Steamboat Art Museum is accessible to all, open to everyone and admission is free.


Tread of Pioneers Museum

Wildhorse Gallery

The Wild Horse Gallery features local, regional and national artists offering original oil paintings, pastels, watercolors, drawings, etchings, bronze sculpture, wood, glass, photography and limited edition prints celebrating the landscapes, wildlife and culture of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region. The discriminating collector is provided a wide variety of exceptional artwork to choose from at the Wild Horse Gallery in its historic downtown Steamboat Springs location at the corner of 8th and Lincoln Avenue.

Emerald offers “clean” food in a coffee shop with a touch of worldliness and sophistication while being down to earth and embodying the positive energy of Emerald Mountain. Their focus is on organic, fair-trade, high-quality and healthy food and drink without stabilizers, cheap oil and milk, pesticides, sugar, etc. They are currently displaying both watercolor and oil paintings from Madeleine Burrough and landscape photography from Robert Prosser. Earlier this year they had on display beautiful artistic ceramic vases from Alexandria Josfan.
