The wait is finally over, so dust off the equipment and gear up for the one of a kind kickoff event initiating the 2017/2018 winter season at Steamboat Resort. On Wednesday, Nov. 22, Scholarship Day marks the official start to Steamboat Resorts winter season with revenues from the days specially priced $25 tickets benefiting the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund.The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is one of the oldest most recognized ski clubs in the United States and has been awarded three times by the United States Ski & Snowboard Association as Club of the Year. Attendees will get to participate in a unique cause that’s helped raise more than $1,000,000 since 1991 for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund. For over 25 years, the Scholarship Fund has existed to provide financial support to deserving local youth participating in Winter Sports Club programs.

Come one, come all and be the first to get a glimpse of what Steamboat Resort has to offer from the Christie Peak Express lift that starts running at 8:30 am sharp. Skiers and riders get carving access to four premiere trails located off of the Christie Peak Express including Sitz, Jess’ Cut-Off, Vogue, and Stampede. Guests may activate $25 Scholarship Day tickets to an existing pass before Wednesday by visiting the Steamboat Ticket Office or calling direct, allowing immediate access to the Christie Peak Express upon opening. Scholarship Day tickets can also be purchased on Wednesday from the Steamboat Ticket Office, which is open from 8:30am-4:00 pm. More terrain is scheduled to open on Thursday as the resort plans to open up the gondola with access to Heavenly Daze and the Outlaw Mountain Coaster will be making its winter debut running from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm for $20 a ride.

Yellow highlight indicates terrain open for Scholarship DayBe within the first 100 anxious skiers and riders in line and receive a free opening day t-shirt or take extra time with the family to warm up with free hot chocolate near the Steamboat Stage or freshly brewed coffee from Gondola Joes. Once filled with adventure from slashing through the snow, cruise back down to the base and discover Bear River Bar & Grill offering half-priced appetizers and drink specials from 11:00am-5:00 pm for Apres Ski. If dinner is in order, head up the hill from the base to Slopeside Grill for $4 drafts, $5 wine, and 25% off all appetizers or venture downtown and select from a multitude of delicious eateries.
