Everybody knows how thrilling riding on a rollercoaster can be, now Steamboat Springs has its very own rollercoaster right on the base of the mountain! Officially known as the longest roller coaster in North America, the family is sure to love this one!

Fly Fishing

Most people consider fly fishing an easy and calming sport, that is until they have a wild trout on the end of their line! Fly fishing can really be an adrenaline-filled experience, with rushes of highs and lows, excitement and heartbreak. The average fish in the Yampa River would be a trophy in most other places in the country.  Many anglers believe that the trout of their lifetime live in the Yampa River.  If you want to give this low impact, high adrenaline sport a try we recommend hiring a local guide so you can skip the boring/frustrating parts and get right to the goods.

The Sun is hot and the waves are big. Cool off with the thrill of whitewater right through downtown Steamboat Springs. The Yampa River is class III whitewater during the runoff season. “Town runs” as they are locally known, are about 1:30 minutes long and cover around 4 miles of river distance. If you are trying it by yourself, river experience and familiarity are necessary.

Don’t worry, local outfitters, Bucking Rainbow Outfitters, run three town runs a day. With experienced guides at the helm, the whole family can find their adrenaline pulse. Trips run daily and meet at Bucking Rainbow Outfitters at 10 am, 1 pm, and 3:30 pm, $50 per adult $45 per child.  Transportation is included. Spots must be reserved ahead of time.  If you would like more than just a taste you can sign up for a full day adventure rafting nearby rivers ranging from class II-V (depending on water levels).
