You won’t find a cheaper or more versatile 3-day pass at any time of the year than the Steamboat Springalicious Ski Pass. The pass includes any 3 days of skiing from April 1st to closing day on April 14th and you must purchase your pass 48 hours or more in advance. Pass rates are currently at $179 if you purchase prior to the start of April, while prices increase to only $199 after April begins. April 1st is widely known as April Fool’s Day, which is a day of pranks, jokes and silly fun. Most mountain towns – Steamboat included – unofficially celebrate this day with wacky costumes, neon colors, blue jeans and retro outfits that bring out the laughs in everyone. Just make sure to keep the fun respectful and playful, as ski patrol will be out in full-force this day!

Test Your Uphill Skills at the 11th Annual Cody’s Challenge

Colorado is known for some of the world’s best Randonee – or “Alpine Touring” – ski races, and Steamboat plays host to one of them every year with Cody’s Challenge. Grab your AT gear, slap on your skins and test your limits against a huge field of world-recognized and just-for-fun competitors alike! Even if you’re a first-timer, Cody’s Challenge offers both short- and long-course options where racers will climb, traverse, ride and descend a variety of trails all over the mountain.  The race starts on April 6th at 8:30 am at the top of the Gondola and proceeds from the race go to the non-profit Cody St. John Foundation. Test your fitness, support a good cause and earn those weekend calories at this year’s edition!

Get Your Funk On at The Commonheart Spring Concert

This group is known for representing their Pittsburgh roots through the powerful instrumentals and high energy of their 9-piece band. With their enticing Blues, Soul and Gospel sound, The Commonheart will provide a dynamic and compelling performance that’ll be sure to get even the most tired of ski legs swaying!  The concert is set to start on April 6th at the après-ski prime time of 3:30 pm.

Kick It with the Crafters at the 39th Annual Cardboard Classic

Post up on the side of the downhill Cardboard Classic course and cheer on the craftiest of folks flying down the slopes in their homemade vessels. This wacky and hilarious race is only for those who put together a craft made from cardboard, glue, string, water-based paint, duct tape, masking tape, balloons and other decorations. Crafts will be judged for the following categories: Coca-Cola Classic, Most Creative, Best Individual Craft, Best Reproduction, Judge’s Choice, Best Costumes, Crowd Favorite and Best Engineering.  Craft line-up, inspections and standstill judging will begin on April 13th at 11:00 am, while the downhill racing portion will begin at 11:30 am. Come out and cheer loudly for your favorite craft, or better yet – Grab a few friends and put together a craft of your own!

Crash the Bash at Steamboat’s Splashdown Pond Skim

The Splashdown Pond Skim is one of Steamboat’s longest-running traditions on the final ski day of the season. The somewhat brave, always silly skiers and riders who participate will do so in costume, with the goal of crossing the icy pond successfully and with style. Male and female skimmers across all ages will be judged on costume, distance, style, crowd response and air. Skimming begins on April 14th at 1:00 pm.

Close Out Steamboat’s Closing Day with The Wailers

Nothing says The Celebration of Spring Skiing and closing out another season like Reggae at the base! What has become an annual tradition in Steamboat continues to live on, as The Wailers return to The Boat for the final hours of the 2018-2019 ski season. While this group needs little introduction to many, The Wailers joined Bob Marley throughout the 70s to take the budding genre to new heights. Still including several original members, this eight-piece band endlessly shares the bright and innovative spirit and sound of Reggae’s most timeless legend.  The Wailers will take the stage on April 14th at 3:30 pm.
