Local Suggestion: Hit the Farmers Market downtown on 7th and Yampa Street open from 9am-2pm for delightful local organic tasting and arts and crafts produced right here in the Yampa Valley.  Local families, ski bums, and visitors alike flock to this event every Saturday during the summer.

 

Free Concert: Galactic

What?           Free summer music event with Galactic

Where?         Howelsen Hill Amphitheater

When?          Doors open at 5 pm with an opening band and 2 for 1 drinks                                from 5:30 to 6:30, main act begins around 7 pm-9:15 pm

How Much?  Free

Local Suggestion:  Show up to the concert early and park on one of the streets north of Lincoln Avenue (Main Street) to get a great parking spot and easy escape when the show is through. Stroll through town and stop at Aurum for happy hour (between 4:30 and 6) and enjoy food and drink on their outdoor seating on the banks of the Yampa River. Ski Jumping Competition

What?            60 of the nation’s best athlete soaring and competing off the                               Olympic summer ski jumps preparing for the final competition                                 on the 4th. Music and food and drink vendors will be present.

Where?          Howelsen Hill

When?           9 am

How Much?   Free

Sunset Happy Hour

What?          A must on your hit list. Ride the gondola up to Thunderhead                              Lodge and enjoy drinks, appetizers and live music and                                        experience the sunset at 9,000 feet.  Ride the gondola back down                     and view the lights of downtown Steamboat under the night sky

Where?          Steamboat Resort Base Area

When?           Loading starts at 5 pm.

How Much?   $15 includes gondola ride and $5 off food or beverage

Local Suggestion: Rent the latest mountain bikes at Ski Haus and head to Emerald Mountain trail system for great family, beginner-intermediate, mountain biking.   For more aggressive trail options, ask the right questions at the bike shop and they may let you in on some local favorites.
