History of Old Town Hot Springs

The Old Town Hot Springs have been a part of Steamboat for over 100 years in one way or another. The first settlers of this area, The Ute Indians referred to them as “medicine springs” and used them for physical and spiritual healing. The Heart Spring is what feeds each of the 8 pools on site. It pumps roughly 220 gallons of hot mineral water out of the ground per minute. The spring pumps the water much like an artisan well so no man made pumps are used—pretty cool huh?

Another interesting fact about the Old Town Hot Springs is that it is an independent 501(c)(m) non-profit organization. In order to serve the community as a fitness and recreational entity, the facility has grown into a multi-use complex offering opportunities in water and fitness for all ages over the years.
