Indoor Activities

The weather in the Yampa Valley can be fun and beautiful, but it can also be dicey and blustery. When the weather calls for an indoor activity, here are our suggestions:

SHOPPING

Steamboat Springs has tons of great shopping, downtown and on the mountain. Get our tips on the best stores in our Steamboat shopping guide!

BREWERY TOURS

Sample locally crafted beer and learn how it’s made. Butcherknife BrewingStorm Peak BrewingMountain Tap Brewery, and Mahogany Ridge have something for every form of beer lover. Or sample some locally made spirits at Steamboat Whiskey Company in downtown Steamboat Springs.

BOWLING

The Snowbowl underwent a major facelift in 2019 and is now a pretty happenin’ place to be. The food is top-notch and the burgers are to die for! Make sure to make a lane reservation because, on bad weather days, the crowds can come out.

ICE SKATING

There’s no outdoor skating rink in Steamboat, so a bad weather day if the perfect chance to get inside the Howelsen Ice Complex. Take advantage of the free skate time or take the whole family down the bumper cars on ice.

LIVE MUSIC

Here in the summer? Check out Strings Music Festival which has a wide array of musical performances for the whole family. Year-round, The Chief Theatre offers cultural plays, live music, art shows and more. Wanna get down after hours? Check out live music at the Old Town Pub or Schmiggitys.

SPAS & MASSAGE

Good or bad weather, getting indoors for a spa day should be a planned luxury during your Steamboat vacation. Check out our guide to Steamboat spas!

MOVIES

Head to the movies on a rainy day in Steamboat at the Wildhorse 6 Stadium Cinemas. Featuring all new movies and loads of movie snacks, this is a great place to spend an afternoon. Make sure to check out the tasty food options nearby.
