Base Area Activities

The base area at the base of Steamboat Resort hosts a multitude of family friendly activities for kids & adults of all ages. Check out the Burgess Creek Beach, take a scenic Gondola ride, and grab a bit to eat at one of the many restaurants. There's so much to do, you'll want to come back over and over again.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Steamboat Resort has miles of Downhill and Cross Country bike trails to explore. The Steamboat Bike Park features nearly 2,200 vertical feet of lift-served, gravity-fed, downhill flow trails. The park utilizes the resort’s natural features and man-made jumps; providing terrain for all ability levels. The Resort also offers miles of Cross Country trails that are free to use. Pedal up or load your bike on the Gondola or Christie Peak Express and discover some of the most beautiful and secluded single-track in Colorado. Buy a season pass, pedal pass, or day pass here.

GONDOLA RIDES

Take a ride up Mt. Werner and enjoy the views that can only be appreciated from Steamboat's new eight-passenger gondola. The Gondola is open daily to foot passengers, weather permitting and is scheduled to open mid-June. Make sure to hike around when you get up top or enjoy a cold beverage from the sundeck at the top of the Gondola building.

BURGESS CREEK BEACH (ABOVE)

Need to cool off on a hot Steamboat summer day? Take the entire family up the the Burgess Creek Beach at the base of the ski area. Burgess Creek runs down from the mountain and into the base area offering a great cool off spot. Grab a red chair on the sandy beach and watch the kids play amongst the rocks and wading pools. Make sure to pack a picnic for lunch or grab a snack & drink from the Taco Beast. And don’t forget the sand toys!

SHOPPING

While you’re visiting the Steamboat base area, make sure to check out the retail shops on the mountain that are open all summer including the Steamboat Bike Shop, Steamboat Mercantile, The Grand Gift Shop, Gondola General, Christy Sports, Sheraton Gift Shops, more!

FOOD & DRINKS

Grab a quick bite or a delicious high-end meal at any of the wonderful base area restaurants including Truffle Pig, Cafe Diva, Slopeside Grill, The Paramount, Los Locos, Timber & Torch, & The Taco Beast, & The Range Food Hall.
