Visa Big Air Event

Steamboat Ski Resort is hosting the Visa Big Air comp on December 11th - 13th. This is the second time Steamboat has hosted this event and will be the first qualifying event for the Stifel U.S. Freeski Team and the Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team ahead of the 2026 Games in Cortina. The venue is accessible on-mountain for skiers and snowboarders and is located in the Park Smalley Freestyle Complex adjacent to Vogue. Come cheer on your favorite athletes and enjoy a weekend full of exciting events!

3:45pm: The Motet takes the Steamboat Stage. With 26 years, nine albums, and over a thousand shows behind them, the genre-bending group brings their signature energy and powerful new lead vocalist, Sarah Clarke, for a performance that's as fiery as ever.
5:30pm - 6:30pm: Autograph session with participating U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes. Guests have the chance to meet the athletes, celebrate the competition, and have a complimentary event poster signed as a keepsake.
5:30pm - 6:30pm: Cap off Visa Big Air finals with an evening hot air balloon glow in Steamboat Square. As the sun sets, hot air balloons will light their flames to illuminate the square. Guests can stroll among the balloons or take in the views inside either The Range or Timber and Torch.



Timber & Torch and The Range will be open throughout the evening. Guests have the chance to warm up by the fire, enjoy dinner and drinks, and soak in the festivities as we close out Visa Big Air World Cup in style.

Steamboat is excited to bring back the tradition of the Santa Horseback Procession. Santa will ride into the resort from the Torian Plum Area down the slopes into the heart of Steamboat Square escorted by legendary locals Bob Dapper and Dean Vogelaar. This event happens promptly at 1:00pm and takes just a few minutes so be sure to be here early not to miss it! Immediately following the ride, Santa will be available on the Steamboat Stage to visit with guests and take pictures. Complimentary hot chocolate and cupcakes will be available.

51st Annual Bud Light Cowboy Downhill

It all began over 50 years ago when Billy Kidd, Steamboat's director of skiing, and Larry Mahan, six-time all-around World Champion cowboy, decided to invite a few of the ProRodeo stars to Steamboat for a day of skiing. The cowboys had such a great time that the downhill has become the most popular event of the season with over 100 of the best professional rodeo cowboys competing in the most unique ski rodeo in the country.

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, one of the largest and oldest winter sports clubs in the U.S., hosts the 113th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival, the oldest continuing Winter Carnival west of the Mississippi. For several days, the entire town is given over to racing, ski jumping, a parade featuring Steamboat's skiing high school band (the only one in the United States), the famous ski jöring events down Lincoln Avenue, and the spectacular night show featuring the legendary Lighted Man and fireworks display where you can see one of the largest fireworks in the country!

The Para Snowboard World Cup at Steamboat demonstrates U.S. Ski & Snowboard's commitment to grow the visibility of its athletes and sports through increasing domestic competition opportunities. By showcasing elite World Cup competition on home snow, U.S. Ski & Snowboard hopes to inspire future generations of Para snowboarding athletes.

2026 WinterWonderGrass Festival

Strings Music Festival

Over 33 years Strings Music Festival has featured more than 60 Grammy winners and musicians from all 25 of the nation's top orchestras - more than 100 performances every year! Strings' diverse music continues through all seasons, offering holiday favorites, chart-topping artists, national touring acts, and more. Strings' free school programs reach more than 3,000 kindergarten through high school students annually. Free community offerings comprise 60% of Strings programs. Strings Pavilion brings world-class music to their marquee concert hall with 569 seats in the heart of Steamboat Springs. 


Pash & Burn Banked Slalom

One of the biggest banked slalom events in the U.S.

The first Slash and Burn came to life in 2014 with a collaboration between the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Powder Tools, and now today, it is all grown up and is one of the biggest banked slalom events in the U.S. This event has been bringing together the best in the industry along with the best riders in the world, celebrating the entire snowboard community. Open to any snowboarder with a groms-only (under 18) day on Sunday.

The name of the event has been changed to The Pash & Burn Banked Slalom, an ode to Alex Pashley, one of the founders of the event, and more widely loved Snowboard Industry professionals. Pashley passed last season in the backcountry while he was out doing what he did best – hyping up riders through encouragement, laughs, and his contagious love for snowboarding.


44th Annual Cardboard Classic
